What they do in the community
A volunteer disaster response organization built out of the 2016 flood, when private boat owners went out on their own to pull neighbors off roofs. Ten years on it runs search and rescue crews, supply distribution, and muck-and-gut teams across South Louisiana. Most of the work happens in the first 72 hours, before federal help arrives. Crews launch from wherever the water is, feed families out of the back of trucks, and stay until the parish tells them the last street is clear.
